Aline Chahine
Architect
Aline Chahine’s diverse creative background gives her a unique perspective at 109 Architectes, which she joined in 2009. After earning a DES from the Université Saint-Esprit Kaslik, she mastered graphic and web design as Design Director at Chatila Publishing House. Later accepting a position at Dagher Hanna and Partners Architects, she honed her design skills on Monot Residential Tower and other residential complexes.
In her current position, Aline leads prominent residential projects like Orchid and Achrafieh 442 from design to execution with an enthusiasm that’s contagious. Eager to share her passion, she founded ArchitectureLab.net in 2005 as a platform to communicate with the global architecture community and spread industry news to readers around the world.
Anthony Chemaly
Architect
Nicknamed “F1” for his problem solving abilities, Anthony has a joint Master of City Planning degree from the Lebanese University and Lyon 2 Lumière University and several years of experience at FischFisch and Shoubeily Group.
Experienced in restoration, Anthony worked on the Souq Haraj and Souq Douma restoration projects (FischFisch) before moving into large-scale development design at 109 Architectes. In his role as team coordinator on noteworthy projects like the Jabal Omar Development Project, he puts his troubleshooting skills to good use. Anthony’s versatility is also evident in his scope of work; his greatest success was designing a villa for Nancy Ajram, the multi-platinum Lebanese singer.
Sandra Al Richani
Architect
Sandra al Richani came to 109 Architectes after earning a Post-Professional Master of Architecture degree from Princeton University and a Master’s Degree in Urban Development and Planning from University College of London. Part of the design team, her extensive academic background shaped her respected approach to projects like the private mountain house she is currently designing.
Sandra’s experience ranges in scale and context from urban proposals in Isfahan, Suzhou, and Mumbai, to residential and commercial design in the UK and Middle East. Examining topics like urban agriculture in Beirut and low-income housing, her research led to participation in several international conferences: a University of Erfurt Germany roundtable and the WOCMES Conference, among others.
An instructor at the American University of Beirut, she says that encouraging students to react peacefully to their environment keeps her optimistic for Beirut’s future.
Roland Rizkallah
Architect
Roland’s project management experience over 12 years in the industry led to his current position as a senior project manager at 109 Architectes. Team-oriented and meticulous in his work, Roland manages international coordination for large-scale projects that frequently involve multinational organizations. He is responsible for strategic planning and implementation, and acts as a liaison between the firm and its partners: consultants, contractors, and clients. Jabal Omar Development Project and Princess Nora bint Abdulrahman University are among Roland’s greatest professional successes.
Jean-Pierre Tohme
Architect
The firm’s trusted source for execution drawings, Jean-Pierre Tohme became part of 109 Architectes in 2010. He graduated with a DES in Architecture from the Lebanese University, Beirut, and held architectural positions at Creatis, FNA and Partners, and SNH before joining the team.
A creative thinker and software expert, Jean-Pierre’s reputation for imaginative, accurate execution drawings was solidified as he led shop drawing production on Princess Nora bint Abdulrahman University and other large-scale projects. He loves playing basketball, and frequent ping-pong matches strengthen his mental agility and focus.
Joy-Chakib Traboulsi
Architect, Urban Planner
Since 2008, Joy-Chakib Traboulsi has successfully balanced development and design on some of 109 Architects’ more challenging projects. Two highlights of his work with the firm include development of the Jabal Omar Development Project and design of a typical Swiss chalet in a modern interpretation.
His previous experience extends to design, interior design, and execution in positions at Shobily Group, Traboulsi Atelier in association with Tabet Group, and Bureau Yazigi-Sfeir. Joy earned a Master’s Degree in Urban Planning and a BA in Architecture from the Lebanese University before beginning his career.
Accomplished in both architecture and urban design, Joy says the completion of a United Nations Development Program project in 2004 is one of his proudest moments. Participating in the renovation of five historic Lebanese cities, he contributed urban planning expertise to the development of his country.
