Choosing one book to summarize my fascination with Istanbul is a hard task, but upon the delivery of our first design project in this city, I decided to share a handful of books. Three were written by two locals fueled by their passion for Western literature. Another, written by a Westerner with an Eastern fascination, trumps all Istanbul travel and history books in its documentation of the city.

- The Birds Have Also Gone, Yashar Kemal
- My Name is Red, Orhan Pamuk
- The Museum of Innocence, Orhan Pamuk
- Istanbul the Imperial City, John Freely
