Bachelard, a French philosopher, goes from cellars to attics, speaks about drawers, chests and wardrobes, observes nests, shells, miniatures and even dreams. It’s definitely not an easy book to get through, but once done, we agree with Harvard professor John R. Stilgoe: “Every reader of it will never again see ordinary spaces in ordinary ways.”
